Geetha Meesala, was a known face in the TDP for her firebrand image, however, she is reportedly miffed with the party for having denied her an Assembly ticket from Vizianagaram in the previous elections. This has sent a strong signal among the backward classes and also led Geetha, a leader from the formidable Eastern Kapu social class stay away from party activities for a long time.
Played a crucial role in TDP
Though Geeta had played a crucial role in the TDP during her stint as the legislator of Vizianagaram. She worked tirelessly for strengthening the party, thereby earning the title firebrand MLA, and also developed the constituency in every way. However, the leader from Eastern Kapu social class began associating with former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao thereby moving away from senior TDP leader Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
In the previous elections, Geeta was denied a ticket simply because Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju introduced his daughter Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju Pusapati in the race. However, Aditi failed to win the elections and speculations were that the Eastern Kapu community were totally against her. Now, according to political sources, Geetha mulls leaving the TDP to join the YSRCP.
Geetha side-lined
Geetha Meesala’s followers have vented their anger at the TDP high command for having side-lined the former Vizianagram MLA, despite her hard work to fortify the party in every way. In 2009, Geetha joined the Praja Rajyam Party founded by Megastar Chiranjeevi and had contested as an MLA from Vizianagram constituency. She managed to gain political recognition having garnered 28,000 votes. Later when the PRP merged with the Congress, Geetha re-joined the TDP. It was in 2014, that Geetha on a TDP ticket won from Vizianagaram and worked hard to develop the constituency. However, she is disappointed that having done so much for the TDP, and being a sitting MLA, she was not given a ticket.
To join YSRCP
According to trusted sources, Geetha who hails from a strong social and economic community is looking forward to joining the YSRCP. In this scenario, the dynamic lady politician is looking for an invitation from the YS Jagan led party with an assurance for a politically significant position.
