Attacks on Hindu temples in Andhra Pradesh are increasing day by day. Newspapers are splashing headlines on a daily basis embarrassing the YS Jagan Government. Even though YSRCP government is taking action on Endowment and Police officials for their inefficiency, these attacks are not stopping. Finally, it seems like Vellampalli Srinivas might have to bear the brunt. According to sources, his removal from the ministry is a mere formality now as Jagan has already taken a decision.
We can assume a single attack on a temple as an act of mischief, but when such incidents are happening as a series, there is a serious inefficiency problem on the part of YSRCP government, particularly the Endowments Department. These barbaric incidents are not stopping even after DGP Gautam Sawang conducted a review on safety of temples across the state.
One incident that highlighted the failure of the Endowments Department is the theft of silver lions at Durga temple, Vijayawada. This incident showcased the utter recklessness of temple officials in the Endowments Minister’s home town. Opposition parties are also highlighting these issues and targeting YSRCP Government. The CM is now considering an alternative for Vellampalli.
Vellampalli Srinivas resorted to the age old technique of making senseless allegations on opposition regarding this issue. He alleged that former CM Chandrababu Naidu is behind these incidents as he wants to create unrest in the state. By uttering this baloney, Vellampalli is unable to cover up the failure. The modus operandi is to blame anything and everything on Naidu, and it is not working anymore.
Jagan is reportedly serious on these issues and is planning to take stern action on officials who are responsible. He understands that people are of the opinion that these suspensions are not enough, so he is thinking of replacing Vellampalli Srinivas altogether. Jagan is a stubborn leader who doesn’t succumb to the pressure of opposition parties. He may not even replace Vellampalli if TDP demands it, just to irk them. But as these attacks are increasing in number, right wing BJP is taking interest in the developments. Even though its leader Somu Veerraju is unwilling to cross swords with YS Jagan, VHP and RSS are not going to leave the issue any soon. Jagan may dismiss Vellampalli Srinivas to demonstrate his seriousness in the issue and to be in the good books of Modi led Central Government. This speculated change has made the bureaucrats to procrastinate important decisions in the department as they are assuming that a new minister would replace Vellampalli soon.
