The GHMC Polls 2020 in India’s fifth-largest metropolitan city of Hyderabad has begun at 7 AM. The polling will conclude at 6 pm. Around 1,122 candidates are in the fray for 150 seats, with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi contesting in all 150 divisions, Bharatiya Janata Party in 149, Congress in 146, Telugu Desam Party in 106 and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in 51 divisions. This time ballot papers are being used for voting, instead of EVMs. A total of 74,67,256 voters will be deciding the fate of candidates at 9,101 polling stations for a total number of 150 divisions.
All arrangements have been made to ensure that voting takes place in a peaceful manner with sixty flying squads, thirty surveillance teams and forty-six thousand personnel being deployed by the State Election Commission. The counting of votes will be held on December 4th.
