Though it isn’t clear as to how many people are really benefiting from AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government schemes, the new initiative ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ would surely benefit the school going children. The state government launched the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ programme on October 8.
Under the new scheme, AP government will distribute Vidya Kanuka kits to all students from Classes I to X. Each student will be provided three pairs of school uniform, a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, a belt, set of textbooks, notebooks and a school bag. Since, most of the students are from underprivileged sections of the society, the scheme would ease the burden on parents.
People are hailing the decision of the government in this regard, saying such good initiatives will help underprivileged students to focus on their studies without any hindrances and that the CM should be lauded for taking such decisions despite facing economic challenges in the state.
In a stark contrast, there has been less focus on the education sector in Telangana wherein several investments have been made in various other sectors since the formation of the state other than education. Many cite this as a reason for the dismal literacy rate in Telangana in comparison with other states. “There’s been no focus on developing government schools,” rues Raju Mudiraj, a local resident of Dubbaka.
Programmes like Jagananna Vidya Kanuka not strengthens government schools, but also helps boost the literacy rate in Andhra Pradesh. Hope, the state witnesses more development in the days to come.
