‘Victory’ Venkatesh who is known for his family dramas has acted in some high-octane action films too. Jayam Manadera holds a special place among them which was released in the year 2000. Venky played a dual role as both father and son in it and his performance were well received by the audiences. It was set in the faction backdrop of Rayalaseema and Soundarya played the female lead. Other important characters were played by Bhanupriya, Jaya Prakash Reddy, Rama Prabha, Meena Kumari, LB Sriram and Tanikella Bharani.
The film’s plot starts with the killing of Mahadeva Naidu who is considered as a God by the villagers. His son Rudramma Naidu is raised outside of the village. The plot revolves around how he comes to know about his father’s killing and avenges the killers. Venkatesh’s performance showcased his ability to portray variations. ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Andhrawala’ also resemble the story of ‘Jayam Manadera’ to some extent. The music by Vandemataram Srinivas created a sensation back then.
