If at all there is one director who achieved finesse in every craft of film making, he is none other than legendary director Dasari Narayana Rao. He is considered as ‘Mestri’ in Tollywood because of his ability to solve any kind of dispute that arises in the industry. Dasari Narayana Rao has done matchless, experimental films in 70s and 80s which remains fresh and relevant even today. It is said by many that it is tough to recreate Dasari’s magic in the TFI. Most of his assistants have gone on to become renowned directors.
Ace director Maruthi considers Dasari as his guru and coincidentally both their surnames are same. But Maruti said that he doesn’t want to be called as ‘Dasari Maruthi’ to retain the unique identity of ‘Dasari Narayana Rao’. He told that Dasari Narayana Rao is unique and none can replace him. Maruthi has said that he wants to make a film on the life and times of the legendary director and called it is his dream project.
