It is clear that the Hyderabad Mayor is not being considered in the Pink Fort. Speculation among TRS circles is whether who would be given the ticket from Cherlapally division, represented by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan. Since the mayor had been lobbying for his wife Bonthu Sridevi to succeed him, the party has put this division on hold.
On the other hand, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan has been accused of land grabbing. It is reported that the Pink Boss annoyed by the allegations has decided to side-line him. Hence, the TRS party declined the ticket to Bonthu Sridevi and has not mentioned her in the list of candidates released for Greater elections. There are also several other reasons behind the non-allocation of Cherlapally division.
Dispute with locals
There seems to be a dispute between locals and non-locals for Cherlapally ticket. According to party sources, the TRS leadership has already taken notice of these conflicts. It is learnt that Bonthu Rammohan had held talks with the locals. However, after he became the Mayor, several allegations were made against him. This led the TRS high command to side-line him. While, on the occasion of Sridevi’s birthday yesterday, the Mayor met MLC Kavitha and MAUD KTR which triggered several speculations that Bonthu Rammohan would be given a chance. However, due to strong opposition from Cherlapally locals, it seems the seat was removed from the list.
What is the real story?
The real story behind this is that Bonthu Rammohan expressed his displeasure against the party high command for having refused him a ticket from Uppal during 2018 Assembly elections. It is speculated that this might be the reason why his spouse was denied a ticket from Cherlapally. However, it is not clear whether the party wants to use his services. Also, the TRS cannot grant him a lesser post than the Mayor, hence the political future of Bonthu Rammohan looks uncertain if he’s sidelined.
