Suriya’s much-awaited biopic Aakasam Nee Haddura finally hit the OTT screens after crossing a series of hurdles. It is based on a book named Simply Fly written by the founder of Air Deccan, G.R Gopinath. Sudha Kongara who made Guru earlier directed this film and let’s see what it packs in its kitty.
Plot
Chandra Mahesh alias Maha (Suriya) has a dream to launch a low-cost airline to make everyone fly. He joins the Air Force after a confrontation with his father. Maha’s straight-forward behavior makes him get into trouble with his senior officer Captain Naidu (Mohan Babu).
Maha fails to attend his father’s funeral as he doesn’t have sufficient money to bear the flight’s fare. This strengthens his aim of starting an airline company that operates at low costs. He marries Sundari (Aparna Balamurali) who is a baker and a constant supporter of her husband’s aim.
Maha faces serious hurdles posed by Paresh (Paresh Rawal) who owns the largest airline company in India in his journey. The rest of the story tells us an inspiring tale about how he succeeded in building the first low-cost airline company in the nation.
Analysis
Director Sudha Kongara dealt Aakasam Nee Haddura with utmost conviction and meticulous craftsmanship. She is seen to have greatly inspired by Captain Gopinath’s life as her love for the story translates on to the screen. Sudha seems to be still in the hangover of Guru and its nuances are evident in some of the scenes in this film.
Aakasam Nee Haddura excels in showcasing the politics in the airline industry of the nation. The makers have agreed that they have dramatized certain situations to infuse cinematic interest into the story written by Gopinath. Suriya is seen in his full form after many years and this shows what a great performer can do if given an inspiring role.
Aparna Balamurali’s role reminds you of Ritika Singh’s character in Guru. Mohan Babu and Paresh Rawal proved once again that seniority and experience can be a value addition to the film. Aakasam Nee Haddura doesn’t have action sequences.
