It is known that the AP Election Commissioner on February 15th announced the Municipal election schedule. Now, as per reports, the SEC plans to hold the MPTC and ZPTC elections thereafter. Recently, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar held a meeting with AP CS Adityanath Das regarding the arrangements made for the third phase of the ongoing AP Gram Panchayat polls and discussed MPTC and ZPTC elections. It is learnt that the SEC has plans to immediately conduct the MPTC and ZPTC elections post the counting of votes for the Municipal Elections on March 14. It is known that the Municipal Elections will be held on March 10th for the 12 corporations and 75 municipalities in the state. However, the Opposition has already approached the SEC’s intervention regarding the ruling YSRCP trying to conspire unanimous elections in MPTC and ZPTC polls.
Earlier the Municipal elections were scheduled to be held on March 23, 2020, the deadly pandemic (Coronavirus) led to the polls being procrastinated by the SEC.
