Speaking about the loss incurred by the travel industry in Telangana, President of AMIM National party and Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Hyderabad Constituency, Asaduddin Owaisi wrote to the Chief Minister KCR to exempt the Motor Vehicle tax for the public during the pandemic lockdown period.
“I would like to bring to your kind notice that I have received a representation from Mr. KM Govind Raju, who is the President of Hyderabad & Secunderabad Cities Contract Carriage Bus Owners Association, Hyderabad, regarding exempting the Motor Vehicle Tax during the period of Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdown,” Mr. Owaisi wrote in his letter to the CM.
He mentioned that the transport Industry in Telangana State is on the verge of a total collapse and that many transport operators have lost their business. Nearly 6 lakh people employed with them may lose their livelihood he added.
“The entire country is under Unlock-3 the transport operators in Telangana State are still under undeclared lockdown. The travel industry suffered huge losses in the absence of regular business. The operators somehow managed the necessary expenses and also retained the staff by paying those remunerations even for the Lockdown period” he wrote.
The MP also spoke about how the transport operators contribute a huge amount of revenues to the state’s economy every year and employ nearly 6 lakh people directly and indirectly.
“But today, the operators are not in a position to pay the Motor Vehicle tax. Hence, I request your goodself to kindly look into the matter sympathetically and issue necessary instructions to the concerned authorities for exempting the Motor Vehicle Tax in the State of Telangana during the period of Covid-19 pandemic lockdown and do the needful on humanitarian grounds,” he concluded.
