Ram Gopal Varma, known for his controversial remarks and quirky movies, always tries to hog the limelight with his ‘hatke’ titles and out-of-the-box ideas. From an ace filmmaker to a political mercenary hired to assassin the character of politicians, the fall has been steep for him.
With biopics being the latest fad, RGV has announced yet another movie with the title “Allu”. It certainly brings to mind Tollywood’s ace producer Allu Arvind and RGV won’t mind the reference for his movie to sell.
The director, in sync with his latest style of film-making, will picturise a fiction woven around the life story of the celebrity. Needless to say, the movie will spend much of its runtime in taking satirical potshots at him.
RGV, according to an insider’s information, is not going to stop at that but go two steps ahead and take a dig at the Megastar Chiranjeevi too. Going by his recent track record, the audiences are not pinning hopes on an engaging plot or a complex storyline in the movie.
Santosh Chanda, an avid movie buff and former fan of RGV says, “I was bowled over when I saw Satya. I thought Ram Gopal Varma is the flag bearer of a new style of content that seamlessly blends mainstream and art. After seeing him make films like Lakshmi’s NTR and Power Star, I felt sad and angry. Sad because this man is now peddling lies and political agenda in the name of cinema. Angry because he had so much potential to transform Indian cinema but ended up transforming himself for money.”
One can’t stop appreciating RGV for his understanding of marketing tactics to promote content on OTT and deriving monetary benefits out of it. He has proved that sensationalism does pay dividends on the new-found film platform.
