The prices of fuel have increased in the country following the rise in the prices of crude oil in the international market. The prices in Andhra Pradesh are nearing the century mark. The OPEC countries have decreased the production, the exchange rate of Dollar and Rupee increasing are said to be the reason. Though the crude oil prices were decreased to 58 US Dollars per barrel, the prices were increased. With the crude oil prices going up, the prices of fuel are also going up making the people angry.
When compared to India, the prices are low in other countries. The price of litre petrol in America is Rs 53.88, diesel at Rs 58.9. The prices in America are lower than the countries like Norway, Sweden, Britain and the Netherlands. While it is Rs 65.2 in Pakistan (as per Pakistani Rupee Rs 112.8), diesel is at 61.56 (Pakistani Rupee 106.57). In Sri Lanka, the prices of petrol are Rs 69.09 and diesel is Rs 51.9.
The prices in some states are more by virtue of the more taxes. The price in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar is Rs 100 (Power Premium). During the last six months, the prices increased by Rs 25. The prices in Hyderabad are Petrol at s RS 89.77 and diesel at Rs 83.46.
The price which was around Rs 75 in June last year has now touched Rs 90. The Rajasthan government decreased 2 percent tax. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee would take a review meeting on Monday. AP government is imposing a tax of 31 percent on petrol and 22.5 percent on diesel. The additional cess has affected more prices. By virtue of cess and other taxes, the government is getting Rs 33.5 on petrol and Rs 24 on diesel as income.
With more prices in AP, the motorists are going to nearby bordering areas of neighbouring states for fuel. The petrol bunk owners are sticking boards about the difference amount. Those vehicles with 350-litre diesel tanks can save Rs 1,000 if they fill in Telangana, which can be used in toll gates. The travel owners are stating that they were filling fuel from Telangana. The prices are burdening the common man in the country but more in AP.
