An intense debate among political circles is whether KCR’s daughter, former Nizamabad MP and current MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha might be confirmed a ministerial post. The MLC in her interaction with reporters after having performed pujas at Karimnagar’s Patabazar Shivalayam, along with Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar, was questioned about the speculations being made regarding her minister post. In her response, Kavitha asked the reporters whether would it be for New Year, Sankranti or Ugadi. When the reporters hinted of her possibility of being inducted into the KCR Cabinet by Sankranti, the MLC replied, why to wait till Ugadi. While these conversations were made off the record and in a jovial manner.
Post GHMC election results
The GHMC elections are yet to be announced. On the other hand, the sudden demise of TRS sitting MLA Nomula Narsimhaiah has necessitated a by-election in Nagarjuna Sagar (Assembly constituency). However, the GHMC poll results might lead to some changes. It is known that Kavitha had been elected the Nizamabad MP from 2014 – 2019, and later her loss in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 led her to go low profile in active politics. Since then speculations were on that she would be given some post. However, Kavitha’s recent victory in the Nizamabad MLC by-elections has again triggered speculations of her being given a ministerial post.
