The Bharatiya Janata Party is strengthening itself via Operation Aakarsh in Srikakulam district, which is known for its political revolution. Around 200 ruling and opposition leaders from Ichapuram, Pathapatnam, Palasa, Srikakulam urban and rural areas of Srikakulam district have joined the party.
Shock for Minister Seediri
State Animal Husbandry Minister Seediri Appalaraju received a rude shock from his followers. Korla Kanna Rao, a prominent businessman and YCP leader from Palasa constituency Mandasa, who was instrumental in Seediri’s victory in the last elections, joined the BJP. AP BJP President Somu Veerraju welcomed Korla Kanna Rao at the party office in Srikakulam. While Kanna Rao’s wife Kavitha was a Mandasa MPP during the TDP regime. Former Palasa MP Dr Kanithi Viswanatham too supported Kanna Rao along with his followers. In addition, many others from Hira Mandal left the YCP and joined the BJP. Hira Mandal YSRCP BC Cell president Tangi Ramesh and party leader Ravi Varma too joined the party in Srikakulam in the presence of BJP president Somu Veerraju.
From TDP
Many TDP leaders and activists from Kavithi Agraharam village in Nandigama mandal have joined the BJP under the leadership of Attada Rajesh. All of them were inducted into the BJP and felicitated with a stole.
Self-interest
BJP state president Somu Veerraju said that both the YCP and the TDP were family parties as they work for their self-interests, instead of the public. He said that development was not about disbursement of money, but about the construction of national highways, airports, seaports, irrigation projects, education and the development of the medical sector. It is not about distributing wealth to the people in order to retain power. He made it clear that the development of the country and the state was possible only with the BJP. Paidi Venugopalam, state BJP vice-president, spokesperson Pudi Tirupati Rao, state BJYM secretary Pudi Baladitya, FCI members Birlangi Umamaheswara Rao and former Palasa MP Dr Kanithi Viswanatham were present on the occasion.
