Tadikonda YSRCP MLA Vundavalli Sridevi is not new to controversies. She once berated the agitating farmers of Amaravati as ‘paid artistes’ drawing severe criticism from them. She has also been subject of derision when she compared in Assembly the heartbeat of a patient who underwent cardiac surgery with the name of Jagan. Currently, she is facing several allegations of corruption.
Rs. 25 crore collection
Tadikonda constituency has many sand ramps. It is alleged that they have become cash cows for MLA Sridevi. There are allegations that her husband is running sand mafia in the constituency. It is said she has collected Rs. 25 crore in a year through her close associate.
This would not have come to light if not the person who collected this money had fled with Rs. 5 crore. When Sridevi and her husband demanded Rs 5 crore back from him, he reportedly said he had incurred Rs. 5 crore expenses to collect Rs 25 crore for them. Even before this controversy faded, another cropped up.
Rs. 1.40 crore loan
Dr. Sridevi’s follower and district cooperative central bank director Mekala Ravikumar alleged that she had taken a loan of Rs. 1.40 crore from him before the 2019 elections. After repeated demands, she repaid Rs. 60 lakh and made it clear that she will not repay the remaining Rs. 80 lakh. Ravikumar posted a video with this allegation on social media.
Sridevi got Ravikumarthe post of district cooperative central bank director. She reportedly asked him to forget Rs. 80 lakh loan in lieu of the bank director’s post. This latest controversy has further tarnished the image of YSRCP MLA.
Suresh Vs Sridevi
A fight is going on between Bapatla MP Nandigama Suresh and Tadikonda MLA Sridevi. Suresh is a local of the capital region and hence thinks he has a natural right to sand ramps in the region. He reportedly has been collecting money from sand ramps. This infuriated the MLA leading to conflict between the two. The internal bickering is also irritating the party leadership.
The YSRCP leadership told both of them to operate on their own turfs, without encroaching each other’s. The competition among ruling party leaders for illegal collections has turned into a weapon in the hands of opposition. YSRCP’s image is also taking a beating with its leaders hurling slurs against each other and going to the media.
