Nani’s ‘V’ which was released amidst high expectations failed to prove its mettle due to its wafer-thin plot coupled with uninteresting screenplay. It was released on 5th of September in Amazon Prime and went on to amass negative reviews. Even though Nani and Sudheer Babu have done justice to their roles, ‘V’ failed to live up to its hype. Aditi Rao Hydari and Nivetha’s half-baked roles added to this debacle. V’s dialogues are lacklustre and music by Amit Trivedi is not up to the mark. PG Vinda’s cinematography is the only saving grace when it comes to technical departments. But Thaman’s background score became the subject of trolls by netizens lately. Let’s discuss about this.
Thaman started his career with Ravi Teja’s ‘Kick’ and soon went on to be branded as a copycat for ‘lifting’ tunes from various sources. He worked hard to erase that image and started his success streak again with ‘Tholiprema’ and delivered consecutive musical hits such as ‘Mahanubhavudu’, ‘Aravinda Sametha’, ‘Prathi Roju Pandage’, ‘Venky Mama’ and ‘Ala Vaikunta Puramlo’. While Amit Trivedi composed music to ‘V’, Thaman has done the background score. He used the theme music of the recent hit ‘Rakshasudu’ for Nani’s introduction scene in ‘V’. He copied the music from the web series ‘Wild Dog’ and used it for the Mumbai chase scene.
Thaman used ‘Penguin’ movie’s theme music in the scene where Nani kills enemy soldiers. When Sudheer Babu finds out Nani’s plan to kill Ranjith (Uttaman) in Thailand, Thaman used the background score from Dhanush’s starrer ‘Asuran’. Several netizens trolled Thaman, while a few expressed their support. “As V’s team approached Thaman in the last minute before release, he should have taken a couple of inspirations to complete it quickly,” wrote movie lover Ravi on Twitter.
