As the campaign to choose Telangana Congress’ firebrand leader Anumula Revanth Reddy as the TPCC Chief grew stronger, several other leaders within the party are trying their best to oppose the move. Speaking on the issue, a senior leader and AICC Secretary V Hanumantha Rao who is a close aide of party president Sonia Gandhi went all guns blazing on such reports. The 72-yr old Congress leader from Hyderabad made it clear that he would leave the party if Revanth Reddy would be given the post of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. He added that political leaders who joined the Congress from Telugu Desam Party shouldn’t be given leadership responsibilities and that many BC leaders in the party too have expressed their dissent.
On the context of several reports that Revanth Reddy would be announced the TPCC Chief on Friday, V Hanumantha Rao held a presser and strongly criticised the decision. He also spoke about other issues in the media conference.
Anger over not being given an appointment
V Hanumantha Rao vented his ire over the fact that he was being denied an appointment despite being a senior leader in the Congress and blamed some leaders within the party for creating hurdles. He lamented saying that he was side-lined since 2018 even though he is a senior leader who was close to Indira family. He never resorted to land grabbing nor gained anything from his political career, he added. The septuagenarian said that a section of Congress leaders blocked him from meeting Madam Sonia Gandhi and that the High Command must issue an explanation as to why he was denied an appointment.
