Elections in Tamil Nadu are just a year away. There is still no clarity about Rajinikanth’s party till now. Is he going to start a party at all? If yes, what’s the name of it? When is he going to start it? These are the questions which are revolving in the heads of his fans and common people alike. Sources say that Rajinikanth is going to start his political party in November. He is said to be in talks with his fans over it. His lawyers even advised him to register the party’s name and logo in Delhi.
Rajinikanth is doing films at a rapid pace. If not for COVID, he would be busy in shooting for his upcoming project with director Siva. As election season is nearing in Tamil Nadu, Rajini is talking about politics lately and this has become the reason for speculations that he is going to enter the political arena now. Let’s see whether he will succeed in politics as he did in films.
One needs to rethink about the statement of George Bernard Shaw which says, “Never underestimate movie stars, they will command the political scene.” After Chiranjeevi’s debacle in politics, this statement lost its relevance. He failed miserably to create any kind of impact in the society. This made Rajinikanth to take a step back in the last elections. Even though anti-fans say he was afraid of Jayalalitha, Chiranjeevi’s failure would have made him postpone his entry.
Jayalalitha’s death created a huge void in Tamil Nadu’s politics and no one seems to match her towering image in AIADMK. We don’t know whether Rajinikanth can emerge as a leader of her standards, but the road ahead will not be a comfortable one for him. Both DMK and AIADMK are targeting him by raising the issues of his non-Tamil nativity and timid nature. Some are even criticizing that he is not fit for politics due to his volatile character. For now, there is nothing concrete about him floating a new party or joining BJP on whom he showers praises.
No clarity whatsoever
Rajini had organized meetings with his fans in the past too; giving hopes for his entry into politics, but went on to star in movies like ‘2.0’ and ‘Darbar’ later. He is currently working on ‘Annaatthe,’ the shooting of which, has been stalled due to the lockdown. There is a rumour floating that Rajini will join in BJP, but he wouldn’t take the step because of the anti-right wave in the State. Political experts are reasoning that he will be supported by BJP from behind.
Future as a film star
Rajinikanth has to complete his commitments if he wants to jump into politics. Apart from ‘Annaatthe,’ he has agreed to star in two other projects. Rumours are abuzz that he will reprise his role in ‘Chandramukhi’ sequel under Vasu’s direction, but the chances of it happening are minimal to zero. If he decides to start a party, ‘Annaatthe’ will be his final film. Let’s see what fate people have written for him.
