YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy had sought just one chance from the public during his campaign and realised his dream. However, the situation of two women who believed and voted for him along with their family members has turned pathetic. The twin Godavari districts are well known for its role in having changed the fate of AP politics, and the story of these two women will definitely prove this right.
At Anaparthi
Let us first see the case of a woman who voted for Jagan out of admiration. Karri Aruna Kumari (46) along with her family resides near a boys’ high school in Anaparthi, East Godavari district. Her husband works as a local journalist. The boys’ high school playground has been used as a road for some years due to the lack of access to the house where they live. Now there is no way to the high school because of the construction of a boundary wall. All the women in the area begged local MLA Suryanarayana Reddy to build a wall leaving space for the road. However, the MLA ignored the request made by the women. Dejected with this, Aruna Kumari committed suicide by hanging herself while no one was at home. She left a suicide note to the MLA, mentioning that they were taught a good lesson for having voted for him. The lady also wrote that the MLA had promised to build a wide road without taking any money.
At Tadepalligudem
The case of another woman from West Godavari district is also a tragic one. M Dhana Lakshmi Reddy of Tadepalligudem is an active member of the YSRCP. She is currently serving as the state secretary of the women’s wing and along with her family worked tirelessly for Jagan’s victory in the previous elections. The real problem started when Jagan became CM. Local YSRCP leaders were urging authorities to seize the house of Dhana Lakshmi Reddy, a resident at the main road of the town. She was in tears stating that she worked hard for Jagan’s victory only to get harassed by her own party leaders. However, the party leaders did not listen to her. More attempts were made to snatch her house. Dhana Lakshmi Reddy said that she will not hesitate to approach the High Court if justice was not meted out to her.
Looking at these two incidents, it is clear that the Jagan government is doing a grave injustice to the women, especially to those belonging to his own party.
