The fault of the priest was asking the chairman to follow the temple rules. He had to face blows from YSRCP goons. This incident happened in Bandi Atmakur Omkareshwar temple in Kurnool district. Few devotees brought to the notice of the priest that the tickets were collected even after 5 PM, which is a violation of the rule. The priest later informed the temple clerk about YSRCP leaders issuing tickets. Now, the local YSRCP leader and temple chairman Pratap Reddy miffed by the priest’s behaviour came with rowdies and attacked the priest inside the sanctum sanctorum, while the latter was performing a pooja.
The TDP state secretary, Rashtriya Brahmin Front national president Kashibhatla Satyasainadh Sharma condemning the incident, termed it inhumane. He expressed displeasure over the inaction by the EO and the police despite having lodged a complaint. He demanded non-bailable cases against those who attacked the priest and even criticized the officials for taking the side of ruling party leaders.
