It isn’t new for the AP government to face setback from the AP High Court nor for the former to challenge them in the Supreme Court. It has been the usual norm for the government to file a recusal plea against those judges who deliver a verdict against the state government alleging them of not functioning in a transparent manner. The government earlier too resorted to insulting judges alleging that they were working in hand in glove with the opposition in order to topple the government.
The AP government challenged the verdict given by the AP High Court initiating criminal proceedings against the Mission Build AP official Praveen Kumar. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the verdict given by Justice Rakesh Kumar. The Court also found fault with the government’s plea seeking recusal of Justice Rakesh Kumar from hearing the case related to the proposed auction of valuable assets under Mission Build AP. Also, the judiciary took the matter of wrongly attributing comments to the High Court judge in the affidavit by Mission AP Build official Praveen Kumar seriously and sought an explanation from the government within six weeks. In this scenario, the state government approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay against the High Court’s instructions to the Registrar General over initiating criminal proceedings against Praveen Kumar.
