Infuriated over AP government’s lukewarm response to the Ramatheertham temple vandalism issue, the BJP held a massive protest before the Vizianagaram Collectorate on Wednesday. During the protests, a BJP supporter Abdul Adil resorted to committing suicide and doused himself in petrol. However, with the heavy deployment of security forces in the area the man was overpowered and taken into police custody. He was later taken to the closest police station.
Reddy Pavani, the BJP District President speaking on the occasion condemned the YSRCP government’s decision to stop the BJP from visiting the shrine of Lord Ram and questioned why the TDP was given permission. She termed the apprehension and house arrest of BJP leaders as unfortunate, adding that the YSRCP is unable to digest the rise of the saffron party in the state. She even demanded that the AP Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas take responsibility for the vandalism of Lord Ram’s idol and immediately tender his resignation for having failed to curb such incidents. The BJP leader even demanded that case be handed to the CBI for investigation and that the culprits shouldn’t be spared. Several BJP leaders and supporters took part in the protest.
