The AP SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has succeeded in his mission to hold the Gram Panchayat Elections in the state and has released a notification in this regard. It is known that the elections are to be held in four phases on the 5th,9th,13th and 17th of February. On Saturday, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar releasing the notification for the first phase of elections had addressed a press meet. The SEC stated that it is his responsibility to hold the elections but the negligence of Panchayati Raj Department, had complicated the entire process. He added that action would also be taken against them in due course of time.
On the other hand, the SEC also stated that they are ready to follow the instructions of the Supreme Court. He also said that when elections were being held in other states pan India, only AP is reluctant to hold polls and that the state government approaching the court in the matter isn’t correct. The election process would begin from today with the Model Code of Conduct enforced with immediate effect. However, the districts of Vizianagaram and Prakasam have not been listed in the first phase of polls.
- Issue of notice for the first phase of elections would be from January 25.
- January 27th would be the last date for filing nominations, the inspection would be held on 28th.
- The SEC added that objections to the nomination would be inspected on January 29th.
- On January 30th, a final decision pertaining to objections would be taken. January 31st would be the deadline for nominations.
- On February 5th, the first phase of elections would be held.
- The polling would be held from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm and the counting of votes would begin from 4 pm in the evening. The results would be announced on the same day.
