AP Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan administered the oath of office to Arup Kumar Goswami. AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy along with High Court Judges and former Judges attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new AP High Court Judge at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada. The Supreme Court Collegium appointed Arup Kumar Goswami as the Chief Justice of the AP High Court as the outgoing Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari has been transferred to the Sikkim High Court.
Cases pertaining to the capital crucial
The cases pertaining to the AP capital issue have reached its peak stage and around 93 petitions have been filed by the farmers and localites opposing the decision of AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the AP High Court. Since the hearing related to the capital issue is being held on a daily basis, the verdict over the Amaravati Capital issue could be out soon. In these circumstances, the appointment of Arup Kumar Goswami as the new AP Chief Justice has become the topic of discussion.
