Usually, the name of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi pops up when it comes to making inflammatory speeches intertwined with religion in Telangana politics. Therefore, Akbaruddin’s political rivals refer to him as a divisive leader. Another controversial leader who can be added to this list is Tiger Raja Naval Singh AKA Raja Bhai, member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the Goshamahal assembly constituency. However, days have changed and the BJP is going ahead with its tactics of religious polarization and this has increased especially with Bandi Sanjay Kumar having taken charge as the Chief of the Saffron Party in Telangana. Also, efforts are being made by the BJP to propagate Hinduism and benefit from it.
The recent political strategy implemented by the BJP during the GHMC elections is a clear indication. The inflammatory speeches made by some of the BJP politicians during the election campaign and especially Bandi Sanjay’s visit to the Shri Bhagya Laxmi Mandir, Charminar, had led to a row. Even post elections, the BJP Chief visited the temple on Friday along with other BJP corporators to offer rituals to the Goddess, which led to a heightened tension prevailing in the area for some time.
Also, on Friday, prayers are usually held in Mecca Masjid and at the same time, the BJP leaders visiting the temple at Charminar led to the police beefing up security in the area to avoid any untoward incident. Now, it’s been several days since the GHMC elections were held and what was the necessity for Bandi Sanjay to visit the temple only on Friday morning? It is evident that the BJP chief is clearly trying to incite an atmosphere of unrest.
