The Union Government has invited the farm unions for the sixth round of talks after the latter on December 26th had informed their consent to negotiate as they had rejected Centre’s appeal to resume dialogue. Sanjay Agrawal, Secretary for Agriculture informed about the same to the farm unions through a letter. Around forty leaders belonging to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha which heads over 400 farm organizations have been invited for the talks. It is known that three Union Ministers – Narendra Singh Tomar, Piyush Goyal and Som Parkash will lead the negotiations being held on Wednesday.
The protests have turned a headache for the PM Narendra Modi led NDA govt and all efforts are being made to resolve the politically challenging outburst. It is being reported that the Centre might allow for changes to be made in the legislation pointed out by the farmers in a bid to pacify them. Also, the farm unions state that the remunerative MSP recommended by the National Farmers’ Commission for all farmers needs to be legalized, which also includes agricultural commodities.
