A 19-year old girl’s heart skipped a beat after watching Raj Malhotra on the screen. She fell madly in love with not only his on-screen character but also his off-screen persona. The girl is none other than sultry siren Ameesha Patel and the guy is Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan. The film is all time classic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
After 25 years, Ameesha Patel revealed her crush for Shahrukh on the occasion of the superstar’s birthday on Monday. We all know about the sky high success of DDLJ and that the first half was shot in picturesque locales of Europe. Ameesha recollected memories of her train trips in Europe inspired by the film, searching for her own Raj until her debut in 2000 with blockbuster Kaho Na Pyar Hai.
It is unfortunate that Ameesha didn’t get the opportunity to work with Shahrukh Khan throughout her career except for a special guest appearance in Om Shanti Om. Deepika Padukone played the female lead in this 2007 blockbuster. This is a stellar example of how teenage crushes continue to live on as profound memories.
