There seems to be a strong relation between drugs and film industry. We can’t forget the havoc that happened in Tollywood a couple of years ago. The who’s who of TFI attended the enquiry in this drugs case. It came up again with Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case and is now being enquired by CBI. Now it’s Kannada film industry’s turn. Recent raids by Karnataka Narcotics Dept. on various drug peddlers revealed their contacts with many actors, actresses and technicians of Sandalwood.
Ragini Dwivedi who stars in B-grade movies in Sandalwood is said to be in the centre of this development. Recently her boyfriend Ravi was arrested by Narcotics officials. Sources say that Ragini follows his every order blindly. She starred in Kannada movie ‘Sivam’ opposite Upendra under the direction of Srinivasa Raju. It was later dubbed into Telugu as ‘Brahmana’. Director Srinivasa Raju casted her in his ‘Dandupalyam -2’, but she left the project after a day’s shooting as per directions from her boyfriend.
She even tried to star in Telugu films but luck hasn’t favoured her. She is now confined to vamp roles in low budget Kannada films. Her name in the drugs issue and her boyfriend’s arrest is sending chills across the Sandalwood as many industry people are scared that their names will come out. Even media is waiting for updates and Kannada Film Chamber has already ordered makers to stay away from those who are involved in this issue.
