Raosaheb Dadarao Danve, MoS for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on Thursday alleged that the farmers’ protest pan India against the new farm laws were being fuelled by Pakistan and China. The Minister had also claimed that since the efforts to mislead Muslims over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens didn’t work out, now farmers are being made to believe that they would suffer losses with the new farm laws.
“The agitation that is going on is not that of farmers. China and Pakistan have a hand behind this. Muslims in this country were incited first. What was said (to them)? That NRC is coming, CAA is coming and Muslims will have to leave this country in six months. Did a single Muslim leave?” Danve said, adding that this is a conspiracy by other countries. However, the Minister failed to specify on what basis the claims were made.
On the other hand, Shiv Sena’s spokesperson Sanjay Raut lambasted the Union Minister for his remarks. He said that President Kovind, Prime Minister Modi and Chiefs of the Armed Forces need to take the issue seriously and that if a Union Minister has such info, then a surgical strike needs to be carried out against China and Pakistan. While another Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant took a jab at BJP leaders saying that they have lost their senses.
