While paying tributes as part of an event marking the centenary celebrations of former PM PV Narasimha Rao, Kalvakuntla Kavitha reiterated her party’s demand for awarding Bharat Ratna to the man who is credited to being the architect of modern reforms in India.
Kavitha recalled how PV steered a 5-year coalition government during difficult times and gave a new direction to the country’s economy. She said that PV was not only a PM, but also served the country as a freedom fighter and a scholar.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha said “The Telangana State Government has decided to organize the centenary celebrations of PV Narasimha Rao Garu because he was not only a Telugu but also a son of Telangana. The year-long centenary celebrations will be conducted in a befitting manner under the aegis of the Telangana Jagruthi.”
She recalled how PV became the first South Indian to become Prime Minister of the country. The former MP added, “The life of PV Narasimha Rao Garu is an inspiration for many young leaders who can learn from his personality and humble ways of leading his life.”
She promised to take steps to spread PV’s achievements and glorious contributions to the nation. Telangana Jagruthi will bring out books and hold two programmes a month to mark the centenary celebrations.
