It has now become a common practice for political parties, caste outfits and publicity mongers to target films demanding change of names. We have seen what happened in the case of Pawan Kalyan’s Komaram Puli, Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat and Varun Tej’s Gaddalakonda Ganesh.
Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Laxmmi Bomb is the remake of Raghava Lawrence’s Tamil film Kanchana. He repeated the directorial duties for the Hindi version as well. The makers have opted for OTT release and will stream the movie on Disney+ Hotstar on November 9th – Diwali Day. The title of this film Laxmmi Bomb became a controversy magnet and many Hindu extremist groups demanded the makers to change it. According to protestors, the addition of Bomb after the name of Goddess Lakshmi is hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
Finally the team has decided to modify the title to Laxmii in order to avoid impending protests and everything seems to be fine now. Tollywood has also seen a film named Lakshmi Bomb starring Manchu Lakshmi a couple of years which went away unnoticed, without any controversies.
