Diwali is a festival of fireworks not only at homes but also on silver screens. Until last year, there used to be 2 or 3 major films competing at box office for this cracker of a festival. After the outbreak of Coronavirus, OTT & ATT platforms have become our multiplexes and there are approximately 10 films that are ready for Diwali release on them.
There is no need for us to wait until November 14th as these OTT giants are starting the mayhem ten days earlier itself. Netflix is starting the fireworks from November 4th with Keerthy Suresh’s Miss India. This will be followed by psychological thriller Gatham which is going to be released on 6th November on Amazon Prime as a part of its festival releases.
Bollywood’s most awaited horror flick Laxmmi will be released on 9th November on Disney+Hotstar. Khiladi Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani are playing the lead roles in this Hindi remake of Kollywood hit Kanchana. Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru which was dubbed into Telugu as Aakasam Nee Haddura will start its streaming from November 12th on Amazon Prime.
Telugu exclusive OTT platform Aha is also geared up with a couple of releases for this Diwali. Their first offering Anaganaga O Atidhi releasing on November 13th is a remake of Kannada flick Aa Karaala Ratri. It is directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s Maa Vinta Gaadha Vinuma will also stream on the same day on Aha. Seerat Kapoor is playing the female lead in it.
Black comedy Chhalaang directed by Hansal Mehta is going to release on 13th November on Amazon Prime. Anurag Basu’s anthology Ludo will release on November 12th on Netflix which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Raj Kumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi. Lady Superstar Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman will be released on 14th November on Disney+Hotstar. Let’s wait and see how many of these releases will illuminate our living rooms with their fireworks this Diwali.
