Every star hero has a fetish to play villain at least once in his career. They repress this desire to protect their image and to not disappoint fans cannot see them in negative characters. Villainous characters give large scope for the actors to perform rather than in hero’s roles which have limited scope. Even veteran actors like NTR and SVR excelled in negative characters such as ‘Duryodhana’ and ‘Ravana’. Now young actors who are not scared of experimenting with their image are showing their love for grey characters. Let’s see which actors are playing menacing villains in the upcoming films.
Vijay Sethupathi in ‘Uppena’
Vijay Sethupathi is one of the finest actors that Tamil cinema has ever produced. He is known for his versatility and ease of playing different roles. He is playing the villain’s role in ‘Uppena’ under the direction of Buchibabu Sana. ‘Uppena’ marks the debut of Megastar’s nephew Vaishnav Tej.
Manchu Manoj turns villain for NTR
Young Tiger NTR and Trivikram are teaming up for the second time. Their first outing ‘Aravinda Sameta’ turned out to be a blockbuster. This film’s speculated title ‘Ayinanu Poyiravale Hastinaku’ has garnered lot of interest. Rumours are abuzz that Manchu Manoj will play the antagonist’s role in this film. Trivikram is said to have designed his character with comic shades.
Nara Rohith’s stint as villain
Nara Rohith debuted with the critically acclaimed ‘Baanam’. His performance in it gained accolades and industry recognition. After Baanam, he went on to star in films like ‘Pratinidhi’, ‘Rowdy Fellow’, ‘Asura’, ‘Appatlo Okadundevadu’ and many more. Even though his performance was well received in these movies, success lent a deaf ear to him. This led to a decline in his career followed by a brief hiatus. Now Sukumar has offered him the villain’s role in ‘Pushpa’ which Rohith gleefully accepted. Vijay Sethupathi was earlier considered for this role, but had to back off due to his prior commitments which turned out to be a blessing for Nara Rohith. Sukumar who is known for designing emotionally driven characters is said to be presenting Nara Rohith in a never-before manner in ‘Pushpa’.
Only time will say if these hero turned villains will enjoy success or not.
