Though movies with adult content fare well at the Tollywood box office, they cause a major dent to the reputation of makers. Directors who are out of their prime resort to cheesy, adult movies in a desperate attempt to retain their hold in the industry. RGV stands as the best example for this. His ’Climax’ and ‘Naked’ shows the level he stooped down to. Even MS Raju who was once respected for his feel good movies produced on ‘Sumanth Arts’ banner is now directing an adult comedy ‘Dirty Hari.’
Its teaser shared a glimpse of bold content in the film. Industry circles are shocked to see MS Raju directing a film like this one. One more director who has joined this ‘Adult’ bandwagon now is none other than ‘Allari’ Ravi Babu.
Ravi Babu is known for his ‘different’ films with peculiar characters and stunning visuals. His previous films ‘Allari’, ‘Ammayilu Abbayilu’, ‘Party’, ‘Soggadu’, ‘Laddu Babu’, ‘Manasara’, ‘Nachavule’ and ‘Nuvvila’ garnered huge craze in youth. He also directed horror thrillers like ‘Anasuya’, ‘Amaravathi’ and ‘Avunu’ which has proved his ability to handle multiple genres. Ravi Babu’s upcoming film ‘Crush’ is an adult comedy with dialogues that are over the top. Its teaser reminds us of ‘American Pie’ series with its no-bar sexual content.
Even though these kinds of movies appeal to the youth, Ravi Babu may have to suffer a huge dent to the respect he has earned over the years. Hit director Maruti also started with adult comedies at the beginning of his career and shifted towards family stories and healthy humour now. But as Ravi Babu is treading the opposite way of shifting from ‘different’ films to adult comedies, let us see how his journey fares.
