Telangana State BJP Chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s proposal to appoint six new presidents for the Greater Hyderabad City Unit has reportedly hit a roadblock. According to party sources, Sanjay had put forward this proposal at a recent meeting with the senior party leaders. Currently, BJP MLC N Ramachandra Rao is heading the party’s city unit.
Apparently, Sanjay wants a new organizational setup for the party in the State capital to strengthen the party and take on the ruling TRS party in the forthcoming GHMC polls. However, a series of consultations held at the residence of Ramachandra Rao has ended in a deadlock.
Party insiders said that the entire exercise turned into a tussle between the seniors and juniors of city unit. “It reminded the high drama of warring dissidents during the re-elections of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday,” a senior party leader said.
The internal bickerings within the city unit have manifested its full form for all the senior leaders and Sanjay to see. Party sources say that more than two dozens of leaders put their hat in the ring for the six presidents’ posts
The senior party leaders are demanding that they be given first preference while the young Turks are insisting that their services to the party should be recognised and rewarded. Amidst this entire melee, there seem to be no takers to BJP State chief’s proposal to appoint a mix of seniors and juniors in order to give a fresh impetus to the party in the State capital.
Last heard, Sanjay Kumar is now trying to convince the seniors to see reason in his proposal.
