Lockdown has brought all activities in Tollywood to a complete halt as shootings got stalled and theatres have been closed. The OTT platforms are the only saving grace for movie buffs who are breaking their heads for not going to the movie theatres. Many Tamil and Malayalam films have released on these platforms which are entertaining the audience with Telugu dubbed versions or subtitles. Telugu filmmakers have taken a back step to release their films on OTT because they thought that theatres will open soon. Straight Telugu films such as ‘Krishna and his Leela’, ‘Bhanumathi Ramakrishna’ and ‘Umamaheswara Ugrarupasya’ and dubbed films like ‘Gypsy’, ’36 Vayasulo’, ‘Forensic’, ‘And the Oscar goes to’, ‘Bangaru Talli’ and ‘Maguvalu Matrame’ released on OTT platforms.
But star-studded films haven’t released on OTT until Nani’s ‘V’ broke the mould. Though its result is disastrous, it paved the way for many makers to release their flicks on OTT. Young hero Raj Tarun’s ‘Orey Bujjiga’ is releasing on October 2nd on ‘Aha’. Comedy actor Suhaas’s ‘Colour Photo’ is also releasing on ‘Aha’ as a Dasara special on 23rd October. Anushka’s much awaited ‘Nishabdham’ is going to release on October 2nd on Amazon Prime. With three consecutive films ready for release, October is going to be a feast for movie lovers.
Along with these, other films such as ‘Solo Bratuke So Better’, ‘Miss India’, ‘Good Luck Sakhi’ and ‘That is Mahalakshmi’ are also going to test their luck on OTT platforms. If Government gives permission to open theatres, then there would be a slight change in the release dates of these films.
