JanaSena’s hold in the state is nowhere strong. After its association with BJP, its influence seems to be reduced to zero. Even though JanaSena won a single seat in 2019 elections, it collected a vote share of six percent whereas BJP garnered a meagre 0.5 percent. BJP led Central government has not taken a single step to dissuade Jagan from giving shape to his three capitals decision in Andhra Pradesh. Supporters of single capital are disappointed with the double tongue approach of BJP. As JanaSena party chief Pawan Kalyan decided to travel with BJP, the cadre is said to be dismayed by the decision.
Even though JanaSena failed miserably in electoral politics, the cadre is actively participating in every programme called by their chief. They are not fearing attacks from YSRCP leaders or police cases, and are exhibiting extreme devotion to their leader. Now as they need to work with BJP, the cadre is complaining that they have to remain as foot soldiers while BJP leaders occupy the frontlines uttering speeches. Some are even complaining that it’s not right to work with a party which doesn’t have cadre and has got less than one percent vote share in the elections.
JanaSena does not have any reason of significance to be in association with BJP because BJP’s vote share is less than one percent in the state. The cadre feels that even if some of the contestants from JanaSena win in the upcoming election, BJP will blow its own horn saying they have won because of its support. It is reported that the cadre is requesting its chief to rethink about the decision to tie-up with BJP.
JanaSainiks are preferring to go to elections on their own rather than associating with other parties. In their opinion, TDP neglected them after using their votes to come into power in 2014. As associating with BJP now is not going to bring any good, they want to go into 2024 elections on their own. They even opine that someone misguided their leader to associate with BJP and are suggesting him to break the alliance immediately as BJP is said to be a right-wing party.
Political experts say that Pawan Kalyan decided to associate with BJP only due to his respect towards PM Narendra Modi. But this move is alienating JanaSena from its minority voters. A sizeable number of Muslims had voted for JanaSena in 2019 elections, but they are said to be moving away owing to Pawan’s alliance with BJP. It’s time for Pawan Kalyan to rethink about his association with the Saffron party and make plans to go solo in 2024.
