Greater elections have turned crucial for the ruling TRS. While the BJP leaders riding high on the Dubbaka win hope to recreate the same magic in the Greater elections so that they can put a check on TRS in the next Assembly elections. With the MIM projected to win 40 divisions in the Old City, it is doubtful whether the Congress would win at least in ten divisions. Adding to its woes, the key leaders deserting the Grand Old Party has become a curse. It is not known whether the TDP, Jana Sena, Left and YCP would open an account if they contest.
Will KCR’s strategy work?
It seems KCR is going to implement a similar strategy implemented by the BJP in Bihar for the upcoming GHMC polls. It can be assumed that KCR was successful in fielding Jana Sena, which has alliance with BJP in AP, to go solo in the Greater polls. Settlers, especially Andhra’s are less likely to come in favour of TRS and to ensure their votes do not shift to the BJP, the TRS chief adopted this strategy. Hence, it is being speculated that KCR has encouraged the Janasenani to contest in order to split the anti-incumbency votes.
Many apprehensions arose over Jana Sena, which is limited to a single seat in the AP, deciding to contest in the Greater elections. Meanwhile, the Janasenani who held a meeting at the Mangalagiri party headquarters announced that the party would contest the Greater Hyderabad elections alone.
According to political analysts, KCR is being attributed as the strategist behind the move. The TRS has alliance with MIM in Old City and with Jana Sena joining forces, vote cutting would benefit the pink party. The TRS has many resources to win the elections and winning this is also not a difficulty, but the Dubbaka drubbing, recent floods in Hyderabad are giving sleepless nights to the ruling party.
Telangana BJP in aggressive mode
The Telangana BJP is in an aggressive mode post-Dubbaka win. A single Assembly seat victory has given the BJP a strength of thousand elephants. BJP leaders realized that there was strong opposition to TRS’s seven-year rule, especially among the youth. That is why the BJP candidate won in Dubbaka with support of the youth. In Hyderabad, the BJP leaders aim to win at least 51 divisions by luring Congress leaders to win votes.
The Telangana BJP leaders have increased their aggression with the blessings of central BJP leaders. Amit Shah fielded Bhupendra Yadav to guide BJP leaders in the Greater elections. Bhupendra Yadav had successfully implemented strategies for BJP’s victory in several states of the country. Within two days of his setting foot in Hyderabad, efforts to wipe out Congress from Greater Hyderabad have already begun.
The BJP is also eyeing to grab the votes of TDP and has directed all BJP leaders in Telangana to remain available in Hyderabad till the greater elections. BJP senior leaders were assigned divisional responsibilities one by one. With plenty of financial resources, the BJP is trying its best to win every vote.
Congress’ hopes dashed
The Congress leaders, who claim that they have given Telangana, have failed to confront KCR. The TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy is confused about the party situation. Sadly, the Telangana Congress president who should be busy campaigning in the Greater elections was seen visiting the houses of Congress leaders begging them not to switch sides. Leaders like Revanth Reddy also remained mum on the issue as rumours are rife that even he would be joining the BJP. If the same happens, it would be the end of Telangana Congress.
Will there be a single seat for these parties?
TDP, Jana Sena, YCP and Left are all in the fray for greater elections. The TDP which lost the previous elections is trying to test its luck once again. Now that Jana Sena is contesting in the Greater elections it has to be seen how many votes these parties will get in the Greater polls. It is learnt that the YSRCP also is keen on contesting at the behest of KCR. This is the friendly relations both the chief ministers of Telugu states have. However, the real contest is between three parties.
