YSRCP leaders and their supporters who are ruling the roost in Andhra Pradesh taking official machinery and police department for granted, are finding it tough to have their way in neighbouring states.
The episode of Jaggaiahpet MLA Samineni Udayabhanu’s son in Telangana, seizure of large amount of cash in Tamil Nadu, purportedly belonging to Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy and the latest incident involving a YSRCP leader of Palamaneru show that YSRCP leaders are not enjoying as much indulgence or goodwill from these state governments as they are expected to do.
Samineni Udaybhanu who was government whip during YS Rajasekhar Reddy rule in 2004 lost elections both in 2009 and 2014. After 10 long years, he tasted power by winning in the pro-Jagan wave in 2019 polls. Dizzied by power of his father, Udayabhanu’s son reportedly obstructed police officials from discharging their duties and even abused them during an incident. It would have been hushed up in Andhra Pradesh, but it had not gone that way in Telangana. Police registered a case and arrested him in non-bailable case.
Even before this incident faded from public memory, Tamil Nadu police seized Rs 4.5 crore cash from a vehicle with Minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy’s sticker. The Minister vehemently denied before media that he had nothing to do with the cash. But the case has not been watered down yet as it would have been in AP, and the Enforcement Directorate took up the investigation. More unpalatable facts are likely to tumble out from the ongoing ED probe.
In yet another such incident, a container owned by a ruling party leader from Palamaner was seized by Odisha police, who said 20 tonne beef was being transported in it. It is illegal to transport beef in Odisha. Police there seized the container besides arresting two drivers and a cleaner. They found that the container vehicle is owned by SKS Transport owned by a YSRCP leader.
It seems that the ruling party leaders are unable to exert any influence in the other states in contrast to their ability to do anything in Andhra Pradesh.
