Actor Asif Basra known for roles in several Bollywood films including Black Friday, Parzania, Lamhaa, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai and Kai Po Che has been found dead at his residence in McLeod Ganj near Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. He was 53.
Asif Basra came into limelight playing the role of a media person in the recent thriller series Paatal Lok. Police said that an investigation has been launched and forensic teams have been brought into the scene to ascertain the cause of death. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Asif committed suicide by hanging. As per reports, the actor had leased a property at the hill station which is also a tourist spot popular for having Dalai Lama’s residence.
Anurag Kashyap’s Black Friday and Rahul Dholakia’s Parzania brought him much critical acclaim. He is also remembered for having shared screen space in Michael O Sajbeland’s One Night with the King alongside veterans such as Omar Sharif and Peter O’Toole.
He was seen last in Paatal Lok on Amazon Prime and Hostages on Hotstar in 2020.
