The fumble in Indian National Congress which caused a major drift between the leadership and senior members is creating major fissures in the party. Senior party leaders who were irked by Rahul’s comments are keen on starting a separate party and it seems they have made it clear in a closed-door meeting which was held at Ghulam Nabi Azad’s residence on Monday.
On the other hand, BJP is relishing the developments happening at 10 Janpath as this drift can further weaken the prospects of Congress to compete with the saffron party. Riding high on the confidence garnered by two sensational victories, PM Modi is moving steadfastly to bring BJP back to power for the third consecutive time. With infighting within Congress shaking up the foundations of the grand old party and BJP basking in the glory of building Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya, the 2024 general elections might well be a ‘no-fight’ for Modi.
