AB Venkateshwara Rao, who served as the Director-General of Police during the previous government regime wrote a letter to the AP Chapter in Amaravati, Secretary of the IPS Officer’s Association alleging the government of harassment. Now, this letter has led to a sensation in the state, especially among political and bureaucratic circles. In the letter, the senior IPS officer requested that necessary action be taken against the harassment being meted out to him by the government.
It may be recollected that AB Venkateshwara Rao had been transferred from the post of Director General of Police of the ACB on the 30th of May 2019, when the YSCRP government assumed power in the state. Instructions were given to the IPS officer to report to the GAD and that he was made to wait for nearly seven months without issuing any orders for further posting. In the letter, the officer mentioned that he had to suffer mental agony as he was not given his salary and even revealed several other details. He detailed about all the possible ways the government was troubling him including court cases and added that the government turned deaf ears to his constant reminders.
He even demanded that the IPS Officer’s Association needs to organize a general meeting and raise the issue of government harassment as detailed by him in the letter. A copy of the letter has also bee sent to the New Delhi branch of the IPS Officer’s Association. Venkateshwar Rao requested that the issue be discussed during a working committee of the organization or general meeting.
