The BJP and JSP leaders fumed at the YSRCP government issuing a stern warning for having foiled their plans to hold the Chalo Ramatheertham Dharma Yatra on Tuesday without providing the necessary permit. Several leaders from both parties were apprehended and house arrested in advance by the police. They vented their ire at YS Jagan government’s actions and against the high-handedness of the AP Police. The BJP leaders even expressed their anger over AP BJP Chief Somu Veerraju’s arrest at the Ramatheertham junction in Vizianagaram, adding that the efforts of YS Jagan to foil the Chalo Ramatheertham rally, exposed the double standards of the YSRCP. While the BJP state general secretary Somagunta Vishnuvardhan Reddy demanded immediate permit for his party leaders to visit the famed shrine of Lord Ram and that the police barricades be removed.
State government responsible for the aftermath
Vishnuvardhan Reddy warned the state government to immediately permit them to visit Ramatheertham, else there would be massive ruckus across the state. He even went on to say that the state government will have to bear the moral responsibility for the severe consequnces afterwards. The BJP leader questioned the YSRCP government as to why they were not allowed to visit Ramatheertham when permission was granted for the TDP and the leaders of the ruling party. He even added that the YSRCP’s double standards were exposed with this incident and that they fear over BJP emerging as an alternative to the TDP and YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh.
