Telangana CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao’s two-day tour to Delhi beginning Friday holds a political significance, as he is scheduled to meet several Union Ministers including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. However, his appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to be confirmed. Apart from this, CM KCR will also lay the foundation stone for Telangana Bhavan, the party office in Delhi. It is known that the Centre had recently allocated land for constructing Telangana Bhavan.
No prior appointment?
With an official confirmation regarding Telangana CM KCR’s appointment with PM Modi awaited, speculations are that the former never requested a meeting in the first place. While a few others in the political circles state that though an appointment had been requested it is yet to be confirmed. On the whole, there is no clarity regarding CM KCR meeting PM Modi.
Recently, PM Modi monitored the development of the indigenous COVAXIN (Coronavirus vaccine) by Bharat Biotech, located in Hyderabad’s Genome valley. However, the Telangana CM KCR nor MPs were invited during the PM’s tour of the facility. BJP says the short schedule of PM is the reason for this.

At loggerheads with each other
Following the Dubbaka bypoll and GHMC elections, the rivalry between the ruling TRS and the BJP has gone ton the next level. The allegations by leaders of either party have hit peak levels. Also, CM KCR had earlier announced that he would begin a battle against the Centre from December, especially regarding the non-release of funds to the state. He even strongly criticized the tour of Union Home Minister Amit Shah while campaigning for the BJP during the GHMC elections. KCR even lambasted the Centre for failing to release Rs 1350 crores which were sought immediately as the flooding due to heavy rainfall had caused a huge loss. On the other hand, the GHMC election results left everyone shocked as the BJP managed to rein in the TRS. While the BJP announced itself as an alternative to the TRS, it claims that the ruling party will surely face defeat in the near future. In this scenario, a letter written to PM Modi by the TRS Chief turned a topic of discussion. CM KCR hailed the Central Vista Project as a symbol of national pride and heaped praises on PM Modi.
Adding to this, the Telangana CM recently expressed his support to the protesting farmers with the TRS backing the nationwide strike (Bharat Bandh). In many areas, the TRS party cadre led the protests. In other words, the political strategy of KCR will be clear once he completes his Delhi tour.
