Tadikonda YSRCP MLA Vundavalli Sridevi, who is always in the news for controversies is facing a new headache, especially from leaders of her own party. Nandigam Suresh hailing from Thullur mandal in Tadikonda constituency who won as the YSRCP MP from Bapatla wants to dominate the area. However, Tadikonda MLA Sridevi has objected to this.
She approached the high command to advise Nandigam Suresh not to interfere in the constituency, following which both the leaders worked in harmony. Later, Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad, a TDP MLC who joined the YSRCP is giving sleepless nights to Sridevi in Tadikonda.
Dokka is increasing cadre in Tadikonda which is his stronghold. He previously won from this constituency and went on to become a minister. Despite working in TDP for some years, Dokka could not get Tadikonda seat during the 2019 elections. With this, he contested from Pratipadu and lost. After the political developments, he joined YSRCP.
Since then the YSRCP leader is leaving MLA Vundavalli Sridevi jittery by touring extensively in Tadikonda constituency. There is a talk in political circles that Dokka is willing to contest from Tadikonda on YSRCP ticket in the coming elections.
Strong opposition against Vundavalli Sridevi
There are many villages falling under the capital region in Tadikonda constituency. Since, Sridevi has supported the three-capital decision by the state government, this has led to a strong opposition from the locals. Sridevi may even lose her deposit if she contests from Tadikonda. Locally there is a talk that the YSRCP high command has given green signal to Dokka in wake of opposition to Sridevi, hence Dokka is making waves in the constituency. It is learnt that Sridevi is worried politically and is in no position to complain to the high command against Dokka’s dominance.
Sridevi accused of corruption
YSRCP leaders are fed up with the attitude of the Tadikonda MLA following serious allegations of corruption. Instances like threatening police officials, illegal sand mining, not returning the money taken from some YSRCP leaders have left an indelible mark on the political career of Vundavall Sridevi. It is now very difficult for her to get rid of the corruption stain. It remains to be seen what turn Tadikonda politics would take.
