The Cinema industry is one of the major arenas that got affected badly by the pandemic in 2020. Particularly, lockdown took away the livelihood of theatre workers as the Centre and State Governments ordered for the closure of cinema halls.
Even though theatres started functioning in December, the exhibitors are mandated to follow the 50 percent occupancy rule as a part of the COVID guidelines. This made many big films opt-out of the Sankranthi race as half occupancy is not going to fetch anything to the makers.
Coming to the point, Thalapathy Vijay requested the CM of Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami to allow 100 percent occupancy to his film Master which is going to be released on January 13th. The Govt. of Tamil Nadu granted his request and ordered the exhibitors to follow stringent safety measures.
With this move, Tollywood producers and exhibitors are also hoping that Andhra and Telangana Governments will soon lift the half occupancy rule. We hope that their wish comes true and the auditoria get jam-packed with cine lovers once again.
