V Hanumantha Rao is a veteran Congress leader who became popular in both the Telugu states for his unique, humour-laden style of talking. He is a strong loyalist of the high-command and never crosses the line drawn by Gandhi family. Rao recently joined the bandwagon of Azad’s haters and started to vent his anguish on him for the latter’s dissent letter on the leadership of the party.
Rao said that Sonia Gandhi was responsible for bringing the party to power twice and dismissed Azad’s letter as an act of disobedience. He also said that he never thought that Azad would ever do such a thing to destabilise the party until the proceedings unfolded. “I lost PCC president and CM posts for united AP because of Azad in the past. What he is doing now after enjoying prominent positions for forty years in both the party and Government cannot be forgiven. He is not supposed to forget what Indira Ji did for him in the first place. My blood boils when people criticize Sonia ji and Rahul ji and I can’t take it now as people from my own party are doing that. Nobody except Gandhi family can lead the party,” added Rao to fall into the good books of Rahul and Sonia.
But one doubt which has not been clarified yet is when was VH offered the CM chair and what did Azad do to grab it away from him? Only time will answer these hypothetical questions.
