The remarks made by Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter Sunita regarding the delay in the trial of AP Chief Minister YS Jagan’s uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case have caused a stir in the political circles. Sunita made sensational remarks that her father had been brutally murdered two years ago, but none of the accused has been convicted. Having spoken to CBI officials in Delhi on Friday, she questioned the prolonged delay regarding the trial in the case.
The murder remains a mystery
Sunita said that her father’s murder remained a mystery and suspects that the evidence would be tampered with if such a delay occurred. She added that such a culture would only increase if the culprits were not caught. Sunita made some other key remarks. When she met a senior officer as part of the investigation into the case, he made sensational remarks that such killings were common in Kadapa and Kurnool. He emphasized that the letter was not a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into the allegations. He said that if you fight it will have an impact on your children as well. Witnesses involved in the case have been accused of dying for a variety of reasons. Srinivas Reddy, the A1 accused in the case, committed suicide in September 2019 and died. It is here that Sunita can be thought of as having many suspicions. At the same time, the threat angle comes to the fore.

The TDP government set up the SIT. Although many have been tried, the case has not been settled. After the election, Jagan became the CM. Another special SIT was formed. Along with several suspects, TDP MLC also questioned BTech Ravi and former minister Adi Narayana Reddy. However, Vivekananda Reddy’s wife Soubhagyama and daughter Sunita approached the high court as the case is being delayed. They requested that the case be handed over to the CBI.
At the same time, withdrawal of a petition filed by Jagan earlier demanding a CBI probe has sparked controversy. The High Court agreed with Sunita’s lawyer’s argument in the case and directed that the case be handed over to the CBI. However, the CBI had to approach the High Court again for handing over the records related to the case. With this, the High Court has once again directed the local Pulivendula Magistrate to give records related to the Vivekananda Reddy murder case. The investigation has been ongoing ever since. Another team arrived after the first instalment trial was over. No progress was seen in the case until the second instalment trial began in September 2020. Sunita meets activist Jomon Puthenpurackal
Last January, Sunita had met Jomon Puthenpurackal a social activist who fought for the trial in the murder case and conviction of the accused in the Sister Abhaya murder case. It was Jomon, who had mobilized a protest along with the public demanding that the case be probed further, while the police closed the case that Sister Abhaya had committed suicide. The activist also played a crucial role in having gathered evidence. It is learned that an assassination attempt was also made on Jomon in this order. In the wake of these developments, Sunita’s meeting with CBI officials in Delhi was not the only priority. It remains to be seen what these consequences will lead to.
