YSRCP candidate in Tirupati Lok Sabha by-election Gurumurthy defeated the nearest TDP candidate Panabaka Lakshmi by a majority of 2,31,943 votes. With the total number of votes to be counted being less than the majority of the YSRCP candidate, the victory was decided as the counting was almost complete. The final figures are yet to be officially announced. YSRCP candidate Gurumurthy got a total of 5,37,152 votes while Telugu Desam Party candidate Panabaka Lakshmi got 3,05,209 votes. BJP-Janasena candidate Ratnaprabha got 50,739 votes. Congress candidate Chintamohan polled 8,477 votes and Noda 13,401 votes.
The YSRCP won this election and surpassed the majority in the 2019 general election. The by-elections were held with the death of YSRCP candidate Balli Durgaprasad who won here in the 2019 elections. According to preliminary information, YSRCP candidate Gurumurthy got 2,31,943 majority as Bally Durgaprasad, who contested in this constituency in 2019, got 2,28,376 majority. Out of a total of 17,10,699 voters, 10,99,784 exercised their right to vote in this election. However, polling in the 2021 by-election was down 15 percent compared to the 2019 election. In the 2019 elections, 13,04,262 people exercised their voting right in the Parliamentary constituency and the polling percentage was 79.03. Only 64 percent of polling took place in this election recently. As for the majority, in 2019, Balli Durgaprasad got 7,22,877 votes (55.03) while TDP candidate Panabaka Lakshmi got 4,94,501 votes (37.65). Janasena-BSP candidate Srihari Rao got 20917 votes (1.6 percent) while BJP candidate B Srihari Rao got 16,125 votes (1.22 percent). Congress candidate Chinta Mohan got 24039 votes (1.83 percent). In the 2019 elections, there were 25,781 votes per note, this time with over 13,000 votes Overall the YSRCP majority increased as the number of votes decreased. At the same time, votes for the BJP-Janasena parties also increased.
However, YSRCP leaders said that the people had voted against the YS Jagan regime in this election and that the allegations made by the TDP, BJP, Janasena, and other parties had not materialized. The YSRCP says people do not trust the opposition, which is making nonsensical criticisms. Party leaders say the people have ignored the criticism of TDP chief Chandrababu and Lokesh over the privatization of Visakhapatnam steel, the issue of three capitals.
