Makers and stars generally tend to stay away from negative sentiments and try to repeat positive elements that have fetched them money and fame. These sentiments can be in various forms such as release dates, combinations, titles and even logos. One such sentiment has become the topic of interest in filmnagar circles because it concerns none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi. His movies which were released on 9th became box office successes and sources say he values this sentiment deeply.
Megastar’s ‘Challenge’ was released on 9th of August in 1984 and went on to become one of the best movies of his career. It was directed by Kodandarami Reddy under Creative Commercials Banner produced by KS Rama Rao and written by ace writer Yandamuri Veerendranath. 9th January, 1987 witnessed the release of ‘Dongamogudu’ and it became a mass hit as Chiru’s double role created a sensation. It was based on Yandamuri’s novel ‘Nallanchu Tellacheera’ while directorial duties were carried out by Kodandarami Reddy.
In 1990, three super hit films starring Chiranjeevi got released on 9th of various months. ‘Kondaveeti Donga’ was released on March 9th and stood as a musical bonanza. The second film which got released on April 9th was none other than ‘Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari’. It went on to become a classic film not only in the careers of Chiranjeevi and Sridevi but also in the annals of Telugu film history. ‘Kodamasimham’ which released on August 9th also became commercially successful as it was the first film which portrayed Megastar as a cowboy.
‘Gang Leader’ got released on 9th May, 1991 and became the biggest grosser in Chiru’s career. It was directed by Vijaya Bapineedu and its hundred days celebration was conducted in four cities simultaneously which stood as a highlight. ‘Gharana Mogudu’ was released on April 9th, 1992 and its success redefined Chiranjeevi’s career. Veteran producer Devi Varaprasad made this film under the direction of K Raghavendra Rao. Chiranjeevi’s family entertainer ‘Bavagaru Bagunnara’ was released on April 9th, 1998 and became a surprise hit. His bungee jump is still remembered today by his fans as it made the viewers go awestruck.
Following this sentiment, Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film ‘Acharya’ which is being directed by Koratala Siva is scheduled for release on April 9th, 2021. This film which was scheduled to release this year originally got postponed due to the pandemic and fans are waiting for its release eagerly.
